But the success of the Trieu Van ecovillage was a great turning point, a basis for the ecological Economy Institute to be self confident in developing ecovillages on the ecological sub-systems of sandy hill areas. At this coastal sandy hill of the central part - one from 12 ecovillages had been successfully built scatteredly all over the northern region and central part, with technical solutions being digging canals, embanking soil, creating elevated parcels for planting sea pines and wattle varieties. After a year, various plants had grown up, spread shades and shed leaves for engendering humus; sweet potatoes, manioc, rhynchosia shall grow luxuriantly. Especially, in this sandy land, there are underground, shallow water sources, so farmers could dig small ponds to retain water for maize, bean, millet, peanut, sesame planting.
