Eye - with nessing the gleefulness of the ancient soldiers from the former Capital Regiment with all white haired heads, with enthusiastic voice, retolding old stories, we could get to see their intact love for Ha Noi: in the past all for Ha Noi, they were ready to sacrifice themselves, nowadays for Ha Noi they continue to live magnificently, usefully, to set a good example for their offsprings.

Ha Noi – one time fighting heroically now appearing impressfully when emeritus artist Quang Hung snow white headed, having stepped through the 80 years of age, but still preserves an agile, fast stature of a fighting soldier from the Thang Long Regiment - Interzone III.

Emeritus Artist Quang Hung had gently reminded the past just according to his specific manner when he raised a shirt dyed brown with 12 mended pieces, in the collar of it, a neckerchief of little Quang Hung, 13, participating in the fight to safeguard Ha Noi. The shirt had accompanied him along miles of military operations, in Dien Bien Phu campaign and even when he became an artist singer servicing, mobilising the troops in all the front lines and now being his precious thing. Because when watching this shirt, he could see through a period of hardships and glory. At that time, the Ha Noi suiciding regiment had got 175 boy scout adolescents, together their elders, had achieved wonderful records in national history, incrusted unforgettable and heroical exploits of Ha Noi. Then he again raises his strong and moving voice to passionately sing the aria “volunteer for death”.

In the same feeling line of a “youngest fighter”, Mr. Ngoc Son, one from the front rank combatant of the Interzone I has revived the fighting atmosphere to protect Ha Noi Citadel in a creative, talented way, expressing the spirit “using weakness for winning strength” of the Capital soldiers and peoples.

Colonel Nguyen Trong Ham having stepped to the age 88, former Deputy Chief  Staff of the Capital Military Zone, now Liaison Chief of Tradition “deciding to die” for the heroic Interzone I, had resuscited the days and nights’ fight to safeguard every street corner, every apartment. Self defense corps and citizens of Ha Noi’s ancient streets had incessantly made holes through the walls for connecting different houses, dug trenches under kerbs, pavements, thus creating “strategic eight trigrams” to annihilate the enemy. All over 36 streets at that time were battlefields, our troops and citizens had entirely put into bankruptcy the enemy’s plot to occupy Ha Noi Citadel within 24 hours.

In February 17^th 1947, 1,200 fighters of the Capital Regiment had safely, silently withdrawn from the Ha Noi imer citadel to the maquis, together the whole nation’s army, people to engage in a protracted resistence war against french agressors. All the departers were strongly hopeful for the returning day, with a slogan painted on every wall “Departing for fixing the date of return”. That is also an inspiration for musician Huy Du to compose the reputed song: “We shall resolutely invincibly return in the Capital”.
