In 1976, as a Secretary of HaiPhong Union of S&T Associations’ Preparatory Committee, I have the honor of meeting Gen. Vo Nguyen Giap when he visited the HaiPhong Department of Science and Technology. 12 years later, in about 1998, that honor has been greater when I not only had chances to talk with him, but also was one of those accompanying General on the visit to the two enterprises in the city as the HaiPhong Union of Science and Technology Associations’ President. I learnt more about the attention the former talent general paid to the scientific and technological sector of the country and the port city.

Professor Nguy Nhu Kon Tum - a good teacher   (21/10/2014)
   Mr. and Mrs. Kon Tum are very close friends with my parents. During the war against the French when my father was Director of education of Zone X and North Vietnam Zone, Dr. Tum was General Director of Studies, then Secretary of State for the Ministry of Education which was superior of my father. Although having a long distance and using bicycle, doctor had visited our family one time. At that time I was a middle school student so in my imagination, this was a very good scientist, a former graduate student of Dr. Frédéric Joliot- Curie who was one of the first 4 masters in our country in the early 40s (Besides Mr. KonTum, there were Mr. Hoang Xuan Han, Mr. Nguyen Duy Khiem and a French named F. Brachet)
Professor Ho Dac Di   (16/10/2014)
   Professor Ho Dac Di, born in 1900; member of the National Assembly term 2nd to 5th; member of the Standing Committee of National Assembly term 2nd, 3rd , 4th; Principal of Hanoi Medical University; General Director of the Vietnam University Department; Director of the Department for Universities and Vocational Schools; Commissioner of Science and Technology of the State; Chairman of Vietnam-France Friendship Association; Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; President of the Vietnam Medical Association; First class Independence Medal; First class and Second class Resistance Medal; First class and Second class Labor Medal; Medal For the Young Generation; Emulated nationwide in 1952 and 1956. Professor Ho Dac Di was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Award. Professor died on 25th June 1984.

   In 1946, President Ho Chi Minh went to France to attend the Fontainebbeau Conference. During this time in France, with the wonderful charm and special charisma, Uncle Ho attracted numerous of Vietnamese overseas in general and intellectuals in particular would like to return to country for resistance. Among these people, there was a young intellectual who known as the "The Buddha of guns" - Major General, Professor, Academician, Hero of Labor, and Minister Tran Dai Nghia. He was born on 13th September 1913.

Ass. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Luan, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Health's Centre for Research and Production of Vaccines and Biologicals and Ass. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy of the Ministry of Transport’s Science and Technology Institute will be granted 2013 Kovalevskaia awards.
