From Ha Tay to Ha Tinh...

Nguyen Hoanh Son was born 1977 at Ha Tay silk native land. Graduated from the University of Mine and Geology, in 2002, he applied to work at the General Company of Minerals and Trade of Ha Tinh, and was assigned to the Enterprise for processing Zirconium at Cam Xuyen. Here, he was appointed with the function of technological – technical management, with the concrete task as managing and supervising the whole process of production technology in the Zirconium – Rutile processing factory. This task requires him as a young cadre to deploy utmost effort to be in full charge from workshop preparing raw materials, to factory processing Zirconium and Rutile, factory grinding super – fined Zirconium... He is also the responsible before the Enterprise Director and the Company leader about products’ quality, norms of production. During the work process, he had co-operated with specialists of the Technique section from the General Company for designing new technological charts for new products, acted as counsellor for the General Company’s leaders on solution of operation, of factory maintenance, on plan set up, on production norms as well as on solutions for saving production expenses and on protection of resources, environment.

All his works are well executed, thus helping the unit to fulfill plans ahead of schedule. Not only engaged in his specialities, he also actively participated in social, mass activities and researched for improving technique of the unit. By such efforts and achievements, in June 2003, he was transferred to a new position: the technique division of the General Company with the role of managing quality for mineral products such as: Gold, Manganese, Rutile, Zirconium, Ilmenite, Monazitc, extrafine Zirconium. He both researched, learned, and with his initiatives, he had implemented many solutions to raise labour efficiency, productivity. Beside, he was also responsible of development for technique and technology for new projects of the General Company on mineral ores processing such as the project for processing gypsum at Laos, the project for producing oxygenized Ilmenite, project for producing Titanium scories, project for producing Titanium dioxydes... Especially he had made research and successfully defended the subject: “Production of 65% ZrO₂ Zirconium raw materials having low content of TiO₂ and Fe₂O₃ mixture, reaching standards for grinding super – fined Zirconium powder”. This is an important subject on deeply processing Zirconium ores having been applied very successfully since 2003, helping the General Company produce super fined Zirconium form the local Zirconium mineral source. The result of the subject had benefited the General Company with dozens of billion dongs each year, having been highly appreciated by the General Company’s Scientific – Technical Council for its novelties, creative character as well as its socio-economic efficiency.

... And from First Prize to another First Prize

Mobilized by everybody, Nguyen Hoanh Son had submitted the a.m. subject to participate in the provincial Competition Festival of Technical Creativeness. After examination and practical investigation, the Competition Festival’s  examination commission had decided to award First Prize to his subject. This successful subject is a result of research on production technology for Zirconium 65% ZrO₂, first ever applied successfully in Vietnam. Until the moment this solution being applied (2003), there existed not any other unit nationwide to produce Zirconium 65% ZrO₂ with TiO₂ and Fe₂O₃ for producing superfined Zirconium meeting requirements of local and international markets. As compared with Chinese technology and some other countries in the world, this technology is of simple design without using flotation technique (one concentration by chemicals), so there is a noticeable saving on production expense (expenses for drying, on flotation reagent and on investment for flotation equipment), requirement for operation being simpler and ability to wide application. Owing to the rather strict implementation of experiments under various conditions of weather and different salinity absorption of ores, Nguyen Hoanh Son had found out rational arrangement of drying stove with various suitable temperature scale for creating optimal thermic diagram to the ore stream in the whole technological flow. His solution had successfully applied the process of surface treatment for ores by temperature to stabilize physical properties (electro – conductivity), thus helping to increase the effectiveness of the electric concentration system in the technological process.

Acknowledging his initiative, the provincial Competition Festival organisation board had sent the a.m. subject to participate in the national Competition Festival 9^th round, and in this round, his subject had continued to be highly appreciated and granted with the First Prize.

When being asked about the subject winning prize, he confided: “Receiving the document guiding the participation in Competition Festival, I was very happy because I thought that this is a good opportunity for me to  come into contact, to examine practical efficacity, to review the process and to draw many lessons of experience. The Competition Festival is also a very useful exercise, an opportunity for testing professional ability, and strong motive for improving special profession”.

Now, with a position as Chief of the project component Pigment – Titanium – Steering Board for implementing the project of Ha Tinh Pigment – Titanium processing plant, Nguyen Hoanh Son is always endeavouring for fullfilling the assigned task. With his enthusiastic young strength, we could firmly believe that in the time coming, he shall advance farther on the path he had chosen.
