Press: Press services in Việt Nam have made it great leap, particularly over the last 15 years of renovation. For the first time, Việt Nam has a law on press and publication.

Currently, throughout the country there are 152 newspapers (national: nine dailies and 108 weeklies; local: 15 dailies, 141 weeklies), 333 magazines, 16 bulletins and 60 national and local radio and television broadcasting stations. In 2002, 678,675,000 issues of newspapers were distributed.

Publication: Currently, there are 47 publishing houses in Việt Nam, 36 of which are under state management, and 11 under provincial or city management. The number of books published in 2001 was 12,561 with 181,641,000 copies. In 2002, 13,515 tiles were published, with 217,482,000 copies. The total number of print shops throughout the country is 539, of which the State owns 318 print shops. The publishing industry is working to achieve its goal of producing four books per person per year by 2005.
